CANDLE CARE | A RITUAL OF LIGHT
Burning a candle is a small act of intention. These are the few things that make it last.
The First Burn
When you first bring this candle home, give it time. Allow the flame to burn until the wax has melted completely across the surface, at least two hours. This establishes what we call the memory pool: a full, even layer of liquid wax that will set the standard for every burn that follows. A candle allowed this first full melt will burn cleanly and evenly for its entire life.
The Wick
Before each burn, trim the wood wick to approximately 5mm. Remove the small darkened tip from the previous burn. This is not a precaution. It is the condition under which the candle burns at its best: a steady, even flame, a pure fragrance throw, no trace of smoke. The faint crackle of a wood wick properly trimmed is the sound the candle was made to make.
The Ending
Rather than extinguishing the flame by breath, we suggest a candle snuffer or simply placing a lid or saucer over the vessel for a moment. The scent in the air after the flame goes out is part of the experience. Let it stay.
THE REBIRTH PROGRAM | VESSEL AWAKENING
When the fragrance fades, the vessel does not end. It waits for the next thing it might hold.
Release
When the wax reaches its final quarter inch, bring the vessel gently to the end. Pour warm water into the vessel and allow the remaining wax to float, cool, and lift free. There is something intentional in this, clearing what has been held to make room for what comes next.
Renewal
Wash the vessel with warm, soapy water. The ceramic or tin beneath the wax is unchanged. It has only been waiting. Once dried, it is ready to begin again.
Rebirth
The vessel belongs to you now, entirely. A Signature Gallery ceramic becomes a planter, a jewelry keeper, a small repository for things you want to remember. A Chaos Lab tin holds paper clips, hair pins, the particular small objects that accumulate on a desk. There is no instruction here, only permission.
